Gmail security made more easier

Is this NEWS?
In the early days of Gmail introduction, the gmail session always kept secured even after you logged in that is gmail was always using https. But since https is slower than http, they transfered the session to http once you logged in unless you access gmail via https://mail.google.com/mail. So https sessions were available from the beginning but only few used it.

So what's the big deal? Why this additional "s" is so important? ;-)
https is the secured version of http protocol. https encrypts data before transmit it over the network, but http transmits it plainly. https is slower but safer and very had to hack. There were some posts few months back, that Gmail with http can easily hacked and it was impossible to hack sessions that uses https.

OK, https is better! But what is the big feature?
Now you can choose your session between http and https without having to login in specifically using https://mail.google.com/ to be on safer side.

So how can I my Gmail session more safer?
  1. Login to Gmail.
  2. Go to sesstings. (The link is on right hand side upper corner.) :)
  3. Scroll to the end of the settings page.
  4. You will see two options under "Browser connection:"
  5. Select "Always use https".
  6. Click on "Save Changes" buttons.
  7. Feel more secured. :-D
Where can I learn more about these?
